3. The Palomino Smokehouse: If you want live music that is actually good, Palomino is doing it right. They have been booking solid acts for years and the bar has kept pace. The whisky selection is serious, and the food is genuinely one of the better BBQ situations in the city. It is easy to spend three or four hours here without noticing.
4. Proof: Smaller spot, quieter vibe, and one of the more thoughtful cocktail lists in the city. This is not the place to go if you want a big loud night. It is the place to go when you actually want to taste what is in your glass.
5. National on 17th: National is reliable in a way that is underrated. Game night, post-work, random Tuesday, it handles all of it. Long tap list, decent burger, and staff that keeps things moving even when the place is slammed. It is not trying to be anything it is not, and that is actually refreshing.
