If you've lived in Calgary long enough, you know what 17th Ave turns into on a game night. Back in the 2004 playoff run, this strip earned the nickname Red Mile, and it has never really let it go. Every time the Flames get hot, the jerseys come out, the sidewalks fill up, and 17th becomes the loudest patio in the city.
This season means a little more than usual. Starting in 2027-28, the Flames are moving a few blocks north into their new home at Scotia Place. That makes 2026-27 the last full season the Red Mile gets to do what it does best on 17th Ave before the geography shifts. If you have been meaning to properly experience a Flames night on this strip, this is the year to do it.
